FI 02 Recruitment

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is currently looking to staff a number of positions with qualified FI 02s. If you are looking to broaden your work experience and are interested in one of the positions listed below, please send your CV to the attention of Lynn_Hogan@acdi-cida.gc.ca and provide a short description of your experience as an FI 02 and which position you are interested in. If CIDA is interested, you will be contacted for an interview.

Position 1: Senior Financial Analyst in the Financial Risk Assessment Unit

Provides expert advice and guidance to CIDA officers on the financial risk assessment of organizations being funded by CIDA and the identification of strategies to mitigate financial risk
Develops and implements policies, procedures and guidelines for risk assessments

Mandatory Requirements:
Currently an FI 02 in a substantive status (i.e. no acting)
Accounting designation (CA, CMA or CGA)
Bilingual Imperative - BBB

Position 2: Financial Management Advisor in the Human Resources and Corporate Services Branch

Provides financial advice to clients
Compiles, analyzes and verifies financial information and develops financial reports
Participates in budget reviews and costed work plan exercises

Mandatory Requirements:
Currently an FI-02 in a substantive status (i.e. no acting) with a minimum of 2 years experience at the FI 02 level
Graduation with a bachelor's degree from a recognized university and specialization in accounting, OR eligibility for a recognized professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA)

The CMA/CPFA Dual Designation: Meeting government accountability requirements, expanding public service career opportunities

Federal government employees can now receive comprehensive public sector financial management and strategic leadership training through a new CMA/CPFA dual designation program. The program has been developed by Certified Management Accountants of Canada (CMA Canada) and the U.K.-based Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), in consultation with the Office of the Comptroller General of Canada. The program is offered in English and French.

Richard Benn, CMA, FCMA, Vice President of Knowledge and Program Development for CMA Canada, will discuss the objectives, features and development of the new CMA/CPFA dual designation. He will highlight how the program supports the government's goal of building professionally trained, accredited capacity in financial management and internal audit, while enhancing opportunities for career advancement in the public service. Co-presenting with Mr. Benn will be Jacques Tremblay, CMA, Regional Director of Marketing (Eastern Ontario) for CMA Ontario, and André Filion, CMA, a representative of CMA Québec. Mr. Tremblay and Mr. Filion will discuss implementation and delivery of the English and French versions of CMA/CPFA dual-designation program.

CMA and CMA-MBA Executive Programs for managers with experience

Since these programs were created in 1997, several hundred working managers have chosen the CMA and CMA-MBA Executive Programs to expand their professional horizons.

Winner of a Grand Prix québécois de la qualité 2004, the Ordre des comptables en management accrédités du Québec (CMA) offers managers high-caliber education programs in partnership with three universities. The programs are intended for managers who want to add two well-known and highly coveted signatures to their credentials: the CMA designation and the MBA degree.

Pierre Charron, Head of the Accounting Sciences Department at Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO), will explain the features of the CMA-MBA Executive Program offered in both languages at UQO. He will be accompanied by two of the program's graduates, who will recount their experience and point out the impact of the CMA designation on their professional career.
