NOMINEE FOR DIRECTOR
Gabriel Najjar
Dear Members,
Dear Colleagues,
The following is a brief overview of my professional and educational background, as well as of my vision based upon which I am soliciting your support in the upcoming elections.
I started my career within the public service in October, 1989, as an auditor with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. My entry door into government was the IARD/FORD Program. I spent some two and a half years with the Program Review Section. During those two years, I was sent to Winnipeg for five months to help Corporate Services with the auditing of contribution files.
I then successively joined Citizenship and Immigration as supervisor for Accounts Receivable, the RCMP's Financial Policy Section and the Department of National Defense's Infrastructure and Environment Section. I am now a senior financial officer with Finance Canada. I supervise accounts payable and interdepartmental transactions for Finance Canada, Treasury Board and the Public Service Human Resources Management Agency of Canada.
Before joining the federal public service, I had acquired 28 years of experience in the private sector in the field of finance, management audit and administration. I hold a masters degree in business administration.
I was a member of the board of my local church in 1988 and 1989, chairman of the Parents' Committee in 1996, member of the Advisory Council in 1996 and then chairman in 1997, as well as chairman of a non profit organization from 1996 to 2003.
I was also captain for the United Way campaign in 2000 for Agriculture's Program Review Section, as well as treasurer in 2000 for the RCMP.
Today, I am submitting my nomination for election as a member of ACFO's Board of Directors. My main motivation for doing so is a desire to share my experience and strategic vision in order to be able to work as part of a team to enhance our Associations' profile at all levels, whether in the field of our collective bargaining process (especially compensation and benefits) or dealing with daily issues of significant interest to all members.
If elected, I will undertake to meet the challenges I may be called upon to deal with, to be frank and open and to be an efficient team worker so that our Association may pursue our interests. I also take the commitment to report to you, the members, who showed their confidence in me by electing me. Today, our Association goes by a new name and gave itself a new strategic vision; the time has new come to get out into the open and to show our qualifications and our expertise.
Yours Sincerely,
Gabriel
