Arjun PatilI am writing this to let you know that I am a candidate for the position of the Director, Association of Canadian Financial Officers (ACFO).

The election of the Chair-ACFO position along with the three Board of Directors will be held in May 24, 2005. All members of A CFO will be receiving a voting package with ballots soon.

My brief background is added below for your information.

ACFO GOALS AND CONCERNS:

  • Position ACFO strategically in the financial management field of the government to manage the government financial and reporting systems and to emphasize importance of this function to employer.
  • Make the ACFO Management and the Board more accountable and accessible to the Membership at large.
  • Promote transparency and accountability of ACFO by improving the Structure of the organization.
  • Improve Board communications to members. Review Association financial framework and internal controls. More frequent, detailed financial reports available to membership. Restore regular publication of "FI News".
  • Involve more members in the operation of board and board committees.
  • Work to encourage Treasury Board to discuss and possibly accept proposals outlined in document prepared by ACFO "Checks and Balances".
  • Increase profile of Association - more research into financial issues, best practice, news articles, and presentations to government and third-party organizations.
  • Improve relationship with major accounting bodies.

IN FUTURE, I WILL WORK TO:
