UPDATE ON PUBLIC SERVICE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
April 26, 2005

The Association's bargaining team has now completed four days of bargaining, which have been quite productive. Both parties have conducted themselves in a professional manner and the Employer has shown interest in discussing issues particular to our community. We have discussed all of the Association's proposals and have agreed on a number of clauses. However, at this point in time we do not have agreement on a monetary package or on vacation time, both of which are very important to the membership.

The next bargaining session is tentatively scheduled for May 26 and 27, followed by a one-day session on June 10.

The compensation and benefits committee is meeting on May 6 and 7 to discuss strategies for potential job action should the negotiations come to an impasse.

As you can appreciate, confidentiality is essential during negotiations, hence we cannot provide more detailed information to the membership at this time.
