UPDATE ON PUBLIC SERVICE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
July 21, 2005
The negotiating team met with the Employer on July 13. The negotiations continue to progress, although this session was less productive than the Committee might have hoped for.
This round of negotiations saw no discussion about wages and no new offers or counteroffers were presented as far as economic increases are concerned. The discussions focussed around some minor clauses that could potentially have some positive monetary impact for members.
The next step is for the Association to present its case on receiving increments to the Employer. As mentioned in earlier updates, increments are an important issue for the FI community and the Association believes that it has strong rationale to show why the entire group deserves to get an increment in this round of bargaining.
Each FI level has a number of salary increments, or steps, that are about 4% apart from each other, which provide for the upward mobility within each FI level. "Getting an increment" would mean that an extra step would be added at the highest end of each level at about 4% higher than the current cap, while at the same time the lowest entry level step would disappear.
The next negotiating session is scheduled for September 6-9.
Stay tuned for more information as events unfold.
*IMPORTANT NOTICE*
Due to the more sensitive nature of these messages regarding negotiations, the Association at some point might no longer be able to use work e-mail addresses for these updates and other pertinent information. It is however important that everyone keep up to date as the negotiation progresses.
We therefore ask all members who thus far are not receiving these e-mails at their home or ACFO e-mail accounts, to contact Karen Moore, membership services at the national headquarters, as soon as possible by phone at (1-877-)728-0695 or by e-mail at kmoore@acfo-acaf.com to ensure that the Association has everyone's private e-mail address on file. This way we can continue to inform all members of important developments.
An ACFO e-mail account has been set up for each member that can be accessed through www.acfo-acaf.net. If you wish to use this to receive communications, please also contact Karen.
