Revisions to kilometric rates
OTTAWA - The National Joint Council, of which the Association is a member, has announced changes to the government travel and commuting assistance directives with regards to kilometric rates.
The new rates are effective September 1 but employees can seek to apply them retroactively for any authorized government business travel for the period starting July 1, 2006 so long as the application is received by December 31, 2006.
Please note that this retroactivity is not automatically applied - members must fill out a Travel Expenses Claim Form for the difference between the old and new rates.
More information on the new rates can be found on the National Joint Council website. The changes are also reflected in the Travel Directive (Appendix B - Kilometric Rates) and the Commuting Assistance Directive (Appendix A - Lower Kilometric Rates).
