UPDATE FROM COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS COMMITTEE
The Compensation and Benefits Committee meet on August 13 and 14 in Ottawa. The committee reviewed the input received from the general membership in the July 2004 ACFO survey and reviewed the current collective agreement clause by clause to develop a first draft of the bargaining demands. Since a number of collective agreements of other bargaining agents have expired and new agreements are being negotiated or are in arbitration, it is expected our demands will need to be reviewed and updated before a final version is ready.
The committee elected the following members to serve as the negotiating team in the upcoming round of collective bargaining:
Andrew Francis
Don Caldwell
Jonathan Hood
Karen Hall
Milt Isaacs
Robert Loiselle (alternate)
John Leduc (alternate)
The bargaining team will finalize the bargaining demands before our first negotiating session with the Employer.
The Association will provide notice to bargain in late October and we anticipate that we will start bargaining with the Employer in January 2004. The general membership has selected Conciliation/Strike as the Dispute Resolution Mechanism should negotiations reach an impasse.
The Association is pleased to announce that Mr. Phillip Hunt a lawyer with Shields & Hunt will be our negotiator for the next round of collective bargaining.
