Collective Bargaining - Public Service
As you all know, the current collective agreement for the Financial Management (FI) group expires on November 6th, 2001. The Association has been doing some preparatory work to prepare for the next round of collective bargaining, such as reviewing and analyzing recently signed collective agreements and past and current public service salary increase trends.
Recently, a large number of members from various departments and agencies, from the National Capital Region and the regions, volunteered their time and their efforts as members of the new Public Service Collective Bargaining Committee. The APSFA Board of Directors has approved a team of 13 members. View a list of their names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
On Saturday, July 28th, the committee met for the first time. After messages from the President of the Association and the Chair of the committee, the Director of Labour Relations briefed the committee members on the basic principles of collective bargaining, while outlining the processes involved. The committee is diverse, experienced, and is committed to working hard to achieve the best result possible, for all members.
The next step for the committee is to determine its mandate. This mandate is driven by the membership and will be based on the results of the survey all members received with their recent info package. The team will be meeting August 24th and 25th to review these results. In order to facilitate this process, you are encouraged to complete and submit the survey as quickly as possible. You can send it to us electronically, through this Web site, or you can fax it to (613) 761-9568.
Visit the Web site periodically, as we will post regular updates regarding the process, and, if you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to either send us an e-mail, or you can always contact any member of the committee.
